Inhabit

Humanity is more than ever threatened by its own actions; we hear a lot about the need to minimize footprints and to reduce our impact. But what if our footprints were beneficial? What if we could meet human needs while increasing the health and well-being of our planet? This is the premise behind permaculture: a design process based on the replication of patterns found in nature. INHABIT explores the many environmental issues facing us today and examines solutions that are being applied using the ecological design lens of permaculture. Focused mostly on the Northeastern and Midwestern regions of the United States, Inhabit provides an intimate look at permaculture peoples and practices ranging from rural, suburban, and urban landscapes.

INHABIT – A Permaculture Perspective

In 2014 Costa Boutsikaris set out to finish his documentary that would introduce permaculture to the world, and show us how we can design a world where both people and planet can thrive. Now, one year later, the documentary is finished and it’s a must-watch.

Permaculture is a road map for the redesign of human systems. It calls for a culture that acts in harmony with the forces of nature and it says “let’s design an agriculture that increases the quality of life for all beings, and let’s achieve the same through our social, economic, and political systems.”

INHABIT explores the many environmental issues facing us today and examines solutions that are being applied using the ecological design lens of permaculture. For those familiar, it will be a call to action and a glimpse into what’s possible – what kind of projects and solutions are already underway. For those unfamiliar, it will be an introduction to a new way of being and a new way of relating to the Earth. For everyone, it will be a reminder that humans are capable of being planetary healing forces.

Focused mostly on the Northeastern and Midwestern regions of the United States, Inhabit provides an intimate look at permaculture peoples and practices ranging from rural, suburban, and urban landscapes.
